2) Community feedback

Residents can support, promote and champion your idea by commenting and voting.

3) Reaching the threshold

Proposals that receive 50 upvotes within a 120 days are forwarded to City staff for review.

4) City review

City staff assess whether the idea is feasible, how it could be implemented, and what resources would be required.

5) Next steps

If feasible, the idea may move forward into early planning.

If not supported, our office will publish a clear explanation on the proposal page so residents understand the decision.

Andrew Trac3 weeks ago Currently, Toronto has one of the highest levels of youth unemployment, sitting at 19.5% in its recent report in November 2025 for 15-29 year olds. While no definitive youth unemployment data for willowdale is out, we know that this ward is home to many folks in the youth and new graduate age bracket, with the 15-19, 20-24, 25-29 age bracket some of the highest in the 2021 census.At the same time, youth are coming into unprecedented challenges that are not previously faced. Artificial intelligence is quickly becoming a tool to replace lower abstractions of work, mostly done by junior employees. Geopolitical economic challenges also hinder the growth of new businesses and consumption. The proposed Willowdale Youth Employment Hub will assist with the following: Support local youth employment and local businesses by pairing both together. Where possible, bring local grants together to fulfill wage subsidies to help youth get a head start in the workforce. Support local youth entrepeneurship by hosting various incubations, hackathons, incubations, to address local challenges here in Willowdale. Support career bridge programming for talent pipeline with youth in high school, assisting with co-ops and connecting volunteer opportunities with sister community associations. Policy advocacy in addressing wider city youth unemployment challenges; gather data through research and surveys in local areas. Where focus and initiatives overlap with partnering associations (Neighbourlink, Yonge North York BIA), the Willowdale Youth Employment Hub should act as a role as the youth representative at stakeholder meetings, and work together to support a partnered initiative. In addition, while youth unemployment is a specific targeted demographic due to its higher than average levels, this can also lay the blueprint for future scalability to a general Willowdale Employment Hub.

4 weeks ago Would like to table this idea for City of Toronto's consideration.Avondale has seen tremendous density growth over the past two decades, however there has not been any Community Center being planned for this neighborhood to support the added density. In the mean time, areas of fair growth albeit not as much as Avondale, have already seen justifiable Community Center addition that is proportional to their density growth.Avondale with its tremendous density growth, is significantly overdue for a full Community Center that is within walking distance. The transit ride to Ethennonnhawahstihnen' Community Recreation Centre is not the answer as that CRC is already supporting the tremendous density growth in its own immediate area.

2 months ago There has been alot of discussion in the neighborhood with regards to Garden Suites and how they impede neighbor's privacy due to the height that you are allowed to build. This policy should be reviewed and adjusted in the way that it eliminates the privacy issue (only single story Suites should be allowed). In addition, the Multi Plex and Garden Suites should follow in the same guidelines as the density increase where by these should be allowed near subway centers and not in matured neighborhoods with single dwelling family homes exist. The Multi Plex/Garden Suite is really a mini apartment building and should be treated as such.

Babi 2 months ago I would very much like to see our government finally do something about the hundreds of old telecom pedestals that are falling apart in our neighbourhoods; with cables spewing out and so-called 'temporary' cabling wrapped around tree branches and hanging from trees to houses or trailing on the ground. Why are public property maintenance by-laws not enforced on Bell and Rogers as they are on the rest of us? These companies have to be made to remove the pedestals if they are no longer in use, or repair them. And they must no longer be allowed to use trees as permanent utility poles.

Felicia spiegelman 4 months ago I am requesting the creation and expansion of inclusive adult recreation programming at Willowdale community centres, including Edithvale Community Centre and Mitchell Field Community Centre, for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities.Currently, many Parks, Forestry & Recreation programs are restricted by age, which creates a significant service gap for adults with disabilities who age out of youth programs but continue to benefit from structured, supported recreation. This gap is particularly evident during March Break, summer, and holiday periods, when inclusive options for adults are extremely limited or unavailable.At present, adults may participate in certain inclusive programs at these centres (such as ongoing social or evening programs), yet are excluded from other recreational offerings at the same locations due solely to age limits. This results in inconsistency, reliance on one-time exceptions, and inequitable access to City services.Requested Outcomes • Development of inclusive, age-appropriate adult programs during school breaks (March Break, summer, and holidays) • Clear City guidelines that support continuity of participation for adults with disabilities already engaged in community centre programming • A pilot inclusive adult recreation program at Edithvale and/or Mitchell Field that could be evaluated and expanded across TorontoCommunity ImpactExpanding inclusive adult recreation programming would: • Promote accessibility, equity, and social inclusion • Support mental health and meaningful community participation for adults with disabilities • Provide critical relief for caregivers • Maximize the use of existing City facilities and staff expertiseThis proposal aligns with the City of Toronto’s commitments to accessibility, equity, and inclusive community services. This initiative would help ensure that adults with disabilities are not excluded from community life simply due to age-based program structures.

Babi 2 months ago Can proper garbage receptacles be put in Mel Lastman Square instead of those big ugly utility bins that the city uses for waste collection? They look horrible and are totally unsuitable for any public space, much less an important square/park such as MLS, which is also the site of our government building.And why are there always so many of them (10 or more) gathered together at the front south-east corner? It looks awful! Can they be removed please?

Anna and Hart R1 month ago Edithvale community centre has this AWESOME play room full of mats and foam climbing blocks (called the Zion room). However, they only open it for 2 hours once a week and it conflicts with the nap time of every child in the age range that would actually enjoy it (1-3pm).I have requested that they open it up more days of the week and other time slots, but have been denied. I have requested to book the room, and they have said it’s not bookable.It is such a disappointment that this room that’s meant to serve the young children and parents of the community is mostly inaccessible due to scheduling and policies.Proposal: Open daily with increased hours. As well as bookable with a liability waiver. Maybe a camera so that if understaffing is a problem, front desk/security can be supervising?Thank you!! 💕

John Zhu1 month ago For the safety of the seniors and the children in our neighborhood, we need to ensure that we have a safe environment today I walked by a bus shelter at Yonge Street and Empress, and a homeless person was living in there. I called 3 1 1, but the process to remove or dismantle the unlawful squatting of public facilities. We have a men’s shelter at Cumer and Willowdale that should be utilized for these people. If we don’t take care of it now it will be hard to manage moving forward.
