Aaron Z9 months ago The road condition situation on Hilda Ave between Charlton and Connaught (but generally all the way up to Steeles) is becoming unbearable to drive on. The potholes are rarely fixed properly and require a re-fix after a month or two later. However, in particular, following some water main rupture or something earlier this Spring, the bend at Newtonbrook Blvd was never properly fixed. Now driving through that area feels like some offroad experience for every passenger and driver. I also noticed some knocking in my front suspension following a trip over that section from a few weeks ago. 311 is completely non-responsive but they never have adequate updates and follow-ups anyways. Can Lily or anyone else help here? Or perhaps we need to take things on by ourselves? Thx

Aaron Z8 months ago The Willowdale Park playground uses sand as the surface as opposed to the newer rubberized surfaces. Kids like to dig holes in the sand (as did I growing up) and now my little injured her leg as she ran towards the jungle gym. Furthermore, the wooden structure gave her, her first ever splinter. I've heard about some planning for this park years back but nothing seems to be happening. Bureaucracy?... Would appreciate hearing other people's experiences and complaints. I can't be the only one!PS: I do like the splash pad features. Really fun and nice for its size.

Janet Love2 years ago 1) I use a walker and I find it very difficult to cross at Yonge St. and Drewry Ave. on the South side, because the so called ramp is not level to the road. So when I go my church at Cummer Ave United, East of Yonge on Cummer, I need to cross the road, avoiding traffic, to the North side of Drewry to cross Yonge St. on the ramps that are level.2) Next problem: is the vegetation that are growing wild on the South Side of Drewry Ave. Who is responsible for removing them?3) Next is there NEWS re: the CUMMER subway station.4) Next problem: I am not able to leave my apartment in winter because of snow removal. My biggest problem is trying to get to the TD bank or the TTC in winter because the sidewalk on Yonge St. on the west side of Yonge at Drewry Ave. can not be plowed because there is a light pole in the way. Only people who can walk over the snow pile can get to the TTC or the bank.

Neha Sinha2 years ago While the schooling system focuses on teaching about the Canadian Food Guide in school, it is crucial that we focus on making sure little kids and their families understand how a kid diet must be executed, and how it differs from that of an adult. I suggest we implement a weekly workshop about the importance and impact of a healthy diet for a growing kid to make this idea more well known to our youths and their families. First time parents may not fully be aware of what foods a growing brain and body need. All of this can be answered through science, however it is reasonable to assume not all families have excess amounts of time to conduct this research on their own. I will be the Project Champion for this idea and suggest we perform an engaging workshop for young families once a week, to help the community out.

unknown author2 years ago Dewlane is a very busy street with traffic lights at Bathurst Street. There is a synagogue, busy plaza and a funeral home on the street. It is one block from a busy park. Both students from Fisherville PS and Pleasant PS, walk on the road to get home. Cars park on the north side of the road in the daytime which is dangerous for pedestrians. There is a seniors home one block away. There is a busy plaza with shops like shoppers drugstore and dollarama across the street. There is a TTC bus stop on the corner. The street curves/bends on a ninety degree angle and cars take the turn at high speeds making it dangerous for pedestrians walking on the road. During winter months the snow banks leave little room and pedestrians are forced to walk in the middle of the road. I propose a small sidewalk be built beside the curb to make the road narrow. Additionally there needs to be a traffic calming measure to slow cars at the curve/bend. Dewlane is a wide road and can accommodate a sidewalk addition for the safety of all. Just add it to the existing curb and narrow the street. No need to cut trees or driveways. Future development of the Canada Post building and the addition of condominiums will elevate the traffic and danger. I have seen many near accidents and I believe we need to be proactive in order to save lives.
