PB 2026: Share Your Ideas, Willowdale East!

The Participatory Budgeting Idea Collection will take place through both in-person events and online submissions via our community engagement portal- Willowdaleactionhub.ca. To increase the likelihood of your project idea moving forward in the PB process, we encourage you to take ownership of your idea by becoming an in-person Project Champion. When submitting your idea online, please indicate your willingness to serve as a Project Champion in the comment section to ensure your idea has a better chance to be considered in the PB process.

Who is a PROJECT CHAMPION? A Project Champion is a participant who submits an idea through the Participatory Budgeting (PB) process and collaborates closely with Councillor Cheng's staff to turn their idea into reality from start to finish. One of the key responsibilities of a Project Champion is to mobilize their idea in the community to gather maximum support.

You will need to SIGN UP on www.willowdaleactionhub.ca to submit your IDEA in the 'Share Your Ideas Willowdale East' folder.

IMPORTANT: Please mention in the description of your IDEA- " I will be the Project Champion for this idea"

Residents will have the opportunity to vote on their favourite community projects at the following events:

June 25 – Lee Lifeson Park (afternoon – exact timing to be confirmed)
June 27 (9:00 AM–12:00 PM) – Mitchell Field

Jane Wong2 weeks ago I will be the Project Champion for this idea.I recently rode my bike on part of the 72 km "Ride the Loop, Close the Gap" bike trail ride that was organized by the Toronto Community Bike Coalition. This was a full day event with the opportunity to see our beautiful city through the amazing trails and communities from downtown back to downtown. The ride loops through the Finch Hydro Trail in our neighbourhood. There are 9-10 small but significant gaps on the loop that are very dangerous, or not accessible by bike: one of them happens to be in our neighbourhood, which is the crossing between Bishop and Hendon, intersecting Yonge. Most cyclists ride on the sidewalk while others brave the road along with other cars and the TTC buses! It is confusing, unsafe, and someone unfamiliar with the area will easily get lost. I propose to take the lead to collaborate ideas to improve safety for everyone, and close the gap on this section of the trail.

Mahadevan Krishnamurthy4 weeks ago City owned properties at the street address 305-311 Greenfield Ave Southeast corner of the intersection Longmore and Greenfield Ave have not been used by city for decades. It's a good opportunity for the city to convert this unused real estate to expand the existing park since more younger families are moving to the neighbourhood. Since the land is owned by the city , it will be easier than where acquiring new additionl land .

K Tarbox4 weeks ago Throughout East Willowdale, out street drainage is blocked by leaves and debris, and weeds grow all along curbs and sidewalks. Regular street sweeping by city equipment seems to have disappeared in recent years. These conditions are unsightly and cause premature deterioration of road infrastructure. It’s disappointing to log such basic maintenance here but it’s needed as much as the betterments suggested by others.

Eric Hau1 year ago Currently the Willowdale Bike lanes are severely under-utilized. Bikeshare stations should be built along Willowdale Avenue (Empress, Byng, Spring Garden) at signalized intersections would encourage biking to popular destinations in the Neighbourhood. Residents could bike in these protected bike lanes could connect to the Finch Hydro Corridor and Future Sheppard Avenue Bike Lane networks. Willowdale East residents could bike to the existing bike stations along Yonge St, and even get to the subway stations faster! This will reduce local car trips for residents within the neighbourhood.

Evonne Chen1 year ago As titled, I noticed that garbage are everywhere now. In the parks, next to benches, the area behind the mall where Loblaws is. It's so dirty I never wanna spend time there anymore! Cigarette butts, empty bottles...etc...etc... When I walk the dog I'm afraid for him step on all the garbage in the park. It's gross. This is basic neighborhood etiquette. It's as if the benches are only there to collect garbage and cigarette butts around them. I'll admit this issue doesn't happen only in Willowdale, but many big cities and downtown have this issue.But it'd be nice to have a solution for a more clean environment. It will make our neighborhood more attractive.

Ed Martin2 years ago Many residents and Lillian park users including children use the path from Lillian Street through the school gate to the path end at the Lilian tennis courts as a short cut. The path belongs to Lillian school. People use this path to get to Maxome Street and St Agnes school while some alight from the TTC 98 bus. During summer the tennis courts are used and there is lighting. However at other times of the year there is no lighting. As some residents let their dogs offleash in the evening this is a hazard as these running dogs cannot be seen by park or path users. There is an electrical connection at the tennis courts so the lighting installation may not be a significant cost concern
