Red paint on the Finch bus-only lane

Jesse Han•2 months ago There have been a number of drivers using the Finch station bus-only lane for no valid reason. This has been disrupting bus flow to enter Finch Station. We need the lane painted red and a large "no stopping" sign.

Crosswalk at Hendon Ave & Greenview Ave

Jesse Han•2 months ago We need an official crosswalk on Hendon Ave and Greenview Ave to get to and from Hendon Park. There is already a 3-way all-way stop sign at that intersection, yet there is no safe way for pedestrians to cross Hendon Ave from Greenview Ave.Pedestrians need a safe south entrance to the park to access the wonderful amenities we have, such as the splash pads, tennis courts, baseball fields, and more.Adding this crosswalk would have little to no impact on traffic (because of the existing all-way stops) while ensuring safety and traffic calming. And no, we don't need someone to get hurt to justify adding a crosswalk.I propose that official painted crosswalk be added before it takes the City years to make any transformative changes to the street (see project)

Removing the Fence on the TTC Parking Lot

Jesse Han•3 months ago At the TTC Parking Lot on Bishop Ave, there is the Finch Hydro Corridor trail that connects east and west. However, the path between the parking lot and the YRT/GO station is an incredibly narrow sidewalk, which becomes a needless bottleneck for pedestrians and cyclists. During rush hour, people are waiting on the narrow sidewalk for their ride, creating an awkward single-file line or forcing people to walk on the road with live traffic to get around. At the moment, a chain fence blocks the path, which should be opened to allow more pedestrians and cyclists to move freely to and from the parking lot. Heck, you can design it so there is a wider dedicated sidewalk, and cyclists can ride on the road where the taxis are parked (and please make the taxis not park next to each other just to yap, please) and shoot out onto the road with painted sharrows. It honestly isn't a difficult request to increase the entrance size, and it would improve the quality of life for everyone with no negative impact.

Pedestrian and Cyclist Signal Priority

Jesse Han•2 months ago Pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers from the Finch Hydro Corridor Trail have to wait for several minutes before the traffic signal changes. We need improvements in increased speed changes so that people are not waiting an absurd amount of time.

Remove Fencing on the Toronto Transit Commission - Finch East Commuter Lot

Jesse Han•2 years ago There are two proposals in one post.Proposal #1Proposal: Remove all the fencing and cement barriers that allow for pedestrians and cyclists to cross between Finch Station and the parking lot. Background: Getting to or from Finch Station or Yonge Street onto the parking lot presents unnecessary hazards for pedestrians and cyclists due to a narrow sidewalk path. The removal of all the fencing and cement barriers seen in the photo above would create separation between the two groups and improve the flow of movement and visibility (eliminating blind spots). This proposal would support Vision Zero in mitigating any injuries that could occur. Additionally, removing 2 metres of the taxi fence next to the station so that cyclists do not need to swerve into the sidewalk by the station.Proposal #2Proposal: Removal of bushes at the TTC Finch Station passenger pick-up and increased size of the sidewalk path along Hendon Ave entering Hendon Park. Background: Cross from Yonge Street into Hendon Ave, the sidewalk path is very narrow, which is a hazard for pedestrians and casual cyclists. Motorists are often driving out from the TTC Finch Station passenger pick-up because they cannot see incoming traffic, pedestrians or cyclists. This presents risk for pedestrians and cyclists having to move around the vehicle into oncoming traffic or behind the vehicle, which does not support the goals of Vision Zero. Removing the bushes (as much as I do love nature) would be vital in removing blind spots for motorists and ensuring they stop to allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely to or from Hendon Park.Additionally, increasing the size of the sidewalk would greatly improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists by providing adequate space amongst both groups and would connect much more smoothly along the Finch Hydro Corridor.
