Pedestrian Signal Priority on Yonge and Byng

J J•5 months ago Current signal timings at Yonge and Byng Avenue should be updated to prioritize East/West pedestrian crossings during late-night and early-morning hours when vehicle traffic is low. Pedestrians have to wait a very long time to for the pedestrian light to safely cross East/West.We should modernize these signal cycles to prioritize pedestrians over empty lanes and reduce the incentive for dangerous crossings.

Additional no parking and no stopping signs on Byng Avenue

J J•5 months ago While parking is permitted on the south side of Byng Avenue, frequent illegal parking on the north side reduces the roadway to a single lane. This bottleneck effectively forces two-way traffic into a one-way flow, resulting in gridlock that spills over onto Yonge Street and Byng avenue.It'd be great to have additional no parking and no stopping signs on the north side of Byng avenue.

J J•5 months ago Current signal timings on Byng Avenue do not reflect actual traffic patterns. While vehicle volume is low during early mornings and evenings, pedestrians face disproportionately long waits to cross East/West. This delay encourages unsafe jaywalking; adjusting signal priority outside of rush hour is a necessary step to ensure pedestrian safety

Better parking enforcement on Byng Avenue between Yonge and Doris avenue

J J•1 year ago GIven the concentration of nearby restaurants and takeout spots, it's very common to see illegally stopped/parked cars on the north side of Byng Avenue in the evening. This effectively reduces the street to one lane, causing traffic gridlock as drivers try to access Yonge Street or Doris Avenue via Byng avenue.I'd like to recommend exploring automated parking enforcement or increased parking enforcement in the evening. Enforcement will be especially important if the plan is to extend Byng avenue to connect to Beecroft in the future.
