Martyn Dahal2 years ago Every weekend, there are a group of friends who set up volleyball posts and a volleyball net at Lissom Park in Newtonbrook West. They are very popular as it is hard to find volleyball infrastructure in the city. Moreover, it is expensive and cumbersome to move large volleyball posts around.I propose setting up volleyball posts at Lissom Park, Moore Park and Goulding Park in Newtonbrook West. The costs of setting up the posts are cheap as the volleyball court would just be ad hoc based on player's skill levels. The posts would be free standing, long lasting, and require little maintenance from the City. It would not impede regular city activity such as turfgrass maintenance as riding lawn mowers can easily drive between the posts (both outside and inside). Residents would have to bring their own volleyball as well as a volleyball net. By setting up the posts, each park would be able to host pick up volleyball for residents. Parks would instantly become more attractive for residents and their families who are looking for a peaceful fun way to get more active. Moreover, volleyball posts would add another dimension of physical activity for teens and adults while children can enjoy other park features such as jungle gyms.By setting up volleyball post, Lissom Park, for example, would instantly become a lot more attractive to residents for casual volleyball while children play at the jungle gym and seniors picnic under the pergola.Volleyball posts are a cheap and effective way to increase public participation and recreation within Newtonbrook West.I am willing to be a project champion for this project.

The post would be long lasting and require little maintenance other than mowing the grass and available for public use. The people would have to bring their own volleyball as well as a volleyball net. By setting up the post, Lissom Park would instantly become a lot more attractive to residents for casual volleyball while children play at the jungle gym and seniors picnic under the pergola. It is a cheap and effective way to increase public participation and recreation within Newtonbrook West.

Martyn Dahal2 years ago Looking to get a semi permanent ball hockey rink for spring/summer/fall to be constructed in Newtonbrook West for residents. Ice hockey is super expensive. Ball hockey is cheap enough as all that is needed is a stick and a ball. (goalie equipment to be provided by goalie if one is available).As of right now, we go down to Baycrest Arena that has a permanent ball hockey set up behind the arena (also has basketball courts and tennis courts in one). Everyone is welcome. We play biweekly if people have the availability and everyone drives from Newtonbrook West due to lack of ball hockey facility.Could also partner with Hockey Canada or Toronto Maple Leafs to grow the summer version of the national game.
