We are happy to share that the next cohort of our YES2Trades program will begin on May 25, 2026, and we are currently accepting referrals!
YES2Trades is a free pre-apprenticeship training program designed for youth interested in exploring careers in the skilled trades, specifically in painting, drywall, and decorative finishes.
We would greatly appreciate your support in referring eligible clients who may benefit from this opportunity.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Youth between 16–29 years old
- Out of school and unemployed
- Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or individuals with Convention Refugee status
- Participants with an active Employment Insurance claim may also be eligible through a Section 25 referral under Employment Insurance
Program Overview:
- 8 weeks of training (Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
- Followed by 8–12 weeks of placement opportunities in the trades
- Program duration can run up to 5 months
- Primarily in-person, with some virtual days
Participants will gain hands-on experience and industry knowledge in areas such as:
- Residential, commercial, and industrial painting
- Drywall installation and repair
- Decorative finishes
- Surface preparation and wall repairs
- Wallpaper and wall covering application
- Scaffold installation
- Colour selection and customer service
- Reading specifications and estimating materials
Participants will also receive certifications in:
- WHMIS
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Lift Training
- First Aid
Please note:
- Clients must have Grade 10 English and Math (proof will be required)
- This is an unpaid training program
