SUBWAY PLATFORM SCREEN DOORS — Keep People Off the Tracks
From "Share Your Project and Policy Ideas"
Go to the project

The problem: People fall, get pushed, or jump onto TTC tracks. These incidents shut down the entire line for hours.
The solution: Install platform screen doors (PSDs) — barriers that only open when the train arrives.
The proof: Tokyo installed these on the Marunouchi Line. Platform accidents dropped from 10–20 per year to zero. A broader study across Tokyo’s network found a 93% reduction in platform accidents overall.
