Simplify Temporary Parking Permits for Condos

Temporary parking permits for condos have become an over-complicated burden for residents, building management and city staff. Each resident is filling out a form, building management are checking car registration addresses and city staff are taking in data, checking it and spending time sorting out issues. It is prone to errors sometimes requiring that it be done all over again from scratch.

The existing GreenP app can simplify the process for everyone. Building managers would apply online for event (eg., garage wash) permission limited to the number of parking spots affected by the event. Upon an automated approval, the city's system would provide event specific GreenP location details and validation codes unique to each condo parking spot which the manager would share by automated email to the resident associated with each parking spot. The GreenP app already supports validation codes and temporary permit location codes. Residents would use their validation code for free parking in the final screen to skip payment.

JH, thanks. Expanding on your point 4, anyone who recently moved in will probably not have their registration updated. It is unfair and unnecessary to deny them a permit.

Agreed. What I've noticed in the last round of parking permit request this year: 1: condo residents shouldn't have to disclose their car registration details to property management. This seems like a data privacy issue. 2: It's a manual process for all 3 parties involved (resident, property manager, City workers), and is prone to error (manual data entry) 3: Toronto Police is the one issuing the parking permits for street parking. Recently, TPS mass rejected majority of the parking permit requests (maybe approved ~10% of what was requested), without providing specific reasons. 4: TPS required car registration address to match the condo's address. It wasn't specified why this is required. If the car is legally allowed to be on the condo property as defined under the Condo's bylaws, is TPS allowed to override this by requiring car registration address to match the condo's address?
