Imaginative + Historical play possibilities w/ the Bishop Park expansion
From "PB 2026: Share Your Ideas, Newtonbrook East!"
Go to the project

With the expansion of Bishop Park, all the very outdated and damaged playground equipment needs to be replaced and modernized. My family would like to see swing-sets added, and even more imaginative styles of play equipment and play possibilities introduced (things with high affordance). Let’s see some fantastic free-play possibilities such as open-ended building equipment, or sink holes and splash-pads. This style of open-ended interpretive play infrastructure could even open up possibilities for new and exciting educational references to historical aspects of the neighborhood itself, such as drawing upon the historical Newtonbrook Creek which ran through this exact area, John Finch’s Hotel, or the Wendat agricultural villages which existed here. Learn more about this style of play infrastructure here (see attached video).
I will be the Project Champion for this idea.
