Dilapidated Telecom Pedestals

From "Share Your Project and Policy Ideas"

Go to the project

I would very much like to see our government finally do something about the hundreds of old telecom pedestals that are falling apart in our neighbourhoods; with cables spewing out and so-called 'temporary' cabling wrapped around tree branches and hanging from trees to houses or trailing on the ground.

Why are public property maintenance by-laws not enforced on Bell and Rogers as they are on the rest of us? These companies have to be made to remove the pedestals if they are no longer in use, or repair them. And they must no longer be allowed to use trees as permanent utility poles.
