Add traffic hump on Kenneth Avenue near the Willowdale United Church

From "Lets Talk Traffic Willowdale"

Go to the project

Situation:

I live near Kenneth and Byng.

As you can see on the map, we have 2 playgrounds, 3 child care centres, 1 public school, and 1 community centre in this area. It is a great outdoor family fun space.

Every day, many families take their kids to play and make friends at these two playgrounds. Many residents will access one of the playgrounds from the other side of the road.

From my observation, quite a few people will cross the road here instead of at the intersection with stop signs. Even though the traffic is moderate here, the west side of the street is always lined with parked cars, which makes it difficult for drivers to see the people crossing, especially if they are the little ones who just learned how to walk and run.

Proposal:

I want to propose here that we can consider adding one speed hump in the middle of the Kenneth between Byng and Church so that the families can enjoy a safe gathering at these two parks!

I fully support this! Given that there are multiple playgrounds, child care centres, a school and a community centre in the area, it would be best to add safe road infrastructure to reduce speeds. The fact that people want to see someone get hurt to justify installing infrastructure is a WILD take. Or to use emergency vehicles as an excuse for being personally inconvenienced is kind of sad. Keep promoting it, and let's see it happen to keep your kid safe, @Zizheng Gao ! ❤️

Makes no sense we need emergency vehicles get to where they need to get to. Let’s leave the safety planning to the experts.
